Can you fit alternative pedals?
Introduction
Gocycle offers 3 types of pedals and depending on your model the wat to remove and install pedals changes slightly.
- Folding Pedals
- MKS removable pedals
- Platform Pedals
Identifying the left and right pedals
Folding pedal
The left pedal has an L stamped into the end of the threaded part, the right pedal has an R stamped into the end of the threaded part.
MKS Pedals
The Right pedal is the detachable pedal
Platform Pedals
The left pedal has a small groove on the metal ring between the pedal platform and threads.
Fitting the Pedals
- Apply a small amount of grease to the thread of the pedal before installing. This prevents the thread from seizing if they ever need to be removed.
- All left hand pedals have a left hand thread and are turned anti-clockwise to tighten.
- All right hand pedals have a right hand thread and are turned clockwise to tighten.
- The recommended torque for installing pedals is 35- 40Nm.

MKS removable pedal
The MKS pedal Right hand is different to other pedals.
- Fit the included washer over the pedal holder thread
- Use a thin pedal spanner (3.2mm thick or less) to install the holder
- Slide back the knurled part of the holder and insert the pedal until the knurled part goes to the original position.
- Add the yellow safety ring between the knurled section and the crank arm.
Can you fit alternative pedals?
Yes you can - All Gocycles use standard, 9/16 inch x 20 tpi pedal threads.
