This article covers: how often you need to lubricate/grease the chain, bearings or seatpost
Do I need to lubricate my chain?
The chain and transmission components are lubricated at the factory. It should not be necessary for you to gain access to the chain. It is lubricated, self-tensioning and sealed within the Cleandrive®. The Cleandrive® prevents the majority of water/dirt/salt from contaminating these components. Unless the Gocycle is exposed to a high-humidity, corrosion-enhancing environment, there is no need to inspect, clean and lubricate your chain and transmission regularly. The chain should only require inspection during as part of a normal 2000 mile / 3,200 km Gocycle Fastfields Service.
Do I need to lubricate the bearings?
The Gocycle uses sealed cartridge bearings which require minimal maintenance. Just like the drivetrain components, the majority of the bearings are well protected inside the Gocycle. We recommend these are inspected during your annual service.
Do I need to grease the seatpost?
The Gocycle seatpost can be fitted and removed from the frame very easily, so does not require grease. If you take the seatpost out of the frame regularly to fold the Gocycle, we recommend you do not grease the seatpost.
