Description
A small number of customers have experienced brake fluid leaking from the brake system. The above Gocycle frame numbers were changed from DOT 4 to mineral brake fluid. This change meant that the seals at the brake lever and caliper also had to be changed from a rubber O-ring (DOT 4) to a brass washer (Mineral Oil) which requires a higher torque on the bolt to fully seal the system.

Symptoms
There might be a small amount of brake fluid around the lever or the caliper or your brake levers may appear soft or less powerful than normal.
Note: If the handlebar has been folded for some time, The brake levers should be pulled 2-3 times once unfolded.
Resolution
Even if there is no sign of oil fluid leaking or softer than normal brakes, if your frame number is in the above range you should check the torque of the 2 bolts on the front and rear brake levers and also the 2 bolts on the front caliper and rear caliper as shown.
Location of the brake bolts on Gocycle.
1. Right brake Lever
2. Left brake lever
3. Rear brake caliper
4. Front brake caliper
The torque of all 4 bolts shown above should be between 6Nm and 7Nm. Never exceed 7Nm when tightening the brake system bolts.
1. Right hand brake lever bolt
2. Left hand brake lever bolt
3. Rear brake caliper bolt
4. Front caliper bolt
To check the torque, use a 4mm hex tool using an appropriate torque wrench or the Gocycle Torque Tool Kit. If you do not feel qualified to perform this important safety check, please contact your nearest Gocycle service location and they can perform the checks - Gocycle Service Locations.
