Products affected: Gocycle G2; operating on Firmware version 74 or below
Description of Important Improvements
The Gocycle G2 drive control software (firmware) is a sophisticated programme that manages power delivery to the motor based on rider pedal input, speed and feedback from other sensors. Firmware versions from V75 and above have important and significant improvements with the adaptive software drive control similar to Electronic Stability Control or “ESC” in modern cars.
Why Is This Firmware Upgrade Mandatory?
Firmware version 75 (and those after) incorporates important and significant updates that improve how the electronics adapt to user riding style and road condition and further extends product service life, driving efficiency and reduces battery fatigue. Continuing to operate an earlier version of the firmware will offer less than optimal performance and may result in reduced service life, excessive noise from the motor drive system, or in extreme cases, loss of drive to the front wheel.
Action Required: Mandatory Firmware Update
If your Gocycle is not already operating a firmware version of 75 or higher, you should upgrade the firmware immediately. You can upgrade the firmware via the GocycleConnect App, available to download from the Apple iTunes Store or Google Play Store. A firmware update takes only minutes to complete. For instructions in how to download and install the application, please follow this link. If you do not have the ability to upgrade via an Apple IOS or Android device, consult the retailer from where you purchased the Gocycle. The store will be in a position to perform the upgrade on your behalf.
Can I Continue to Ride my Gocycle?
Riding Gocycle without having completed this mandatory firmware upgrade may materially affect its performance and could cause irreparable damage over time. We strongly recommend completing this mandatory upgrade at the earliest convenience.
