This article covers: what is the Lockshock and why it is called the Lockshock, how the suspension works, how much travel the suspension has, can you ride without the Lockshock pin fitted
What is the "Lockshock"?
The Lockshock is the rear suspension. This is the round black part which connects to the back of the frame. Every Gocycle is fitted with rear suspension as standard.
How does it work?
The rear suspension contains an elastomer which compresses under load, helping to smooth out bumps in the road.
How much travel does the suspension have?
The Gocycle Lockshock provides rear travel of 1 inch or 25mm.
Why is is called the Lockshock?
On all Gocycle models which do not feature the fast-folding frame(G1, G2, G3, G3 Carbon, G3+, GS), a coil lock could be fitted to the suspension. Here is an article about our coil lock.
What is the pin in the suspension?
On Gocycles which do not feature the fast-folding frame (G1, G2, G3, G3 Carbon, G3+, GS) a removable pin is used in the rear suspension, called the Lockshock Pin.
The Lockshock Pin keeps the upper and lower halves of the suspension together, whilst also allowing the suspension to move fully. The coil lock also performs the same function.
Can I ride the Gocycle without the Lockshock Pin in the suspension?
No - there is a small chance that the suspension will become disconnected if the rear wheel lifts off the ground, which can cause the rider to lose control.
We recommend riding with either the Lockshock pin or the Shocklock coil lock in the suspension at all times.
