This article will explain what specific battery error codes/ fault codes mean, if they can be resolved, and suggests solutions to fix the issue.
What is a battery error code?
An error code occurs when the battery detects an issue. When this happens, the battery will not provide any power. Some errors can be recovered from, others cannot.
How can you tell if you have an error code?
An error code is displayed on the LEDs of the battery pack. All 4 LEDs will blink together repeatedly several times:
Number of flashes | Description of Error | Solution - useful links below |
3 | Voltage slightly too high on battery pack | Reset*, then leave the lights on or try to shift gears (electronic shifting only) for 30 minutes |
4 | Voltage slightly too low on battery pack | Reset, then complete the charger test procedure** |
5 | Battery is too hot during discharge | Allow to cool, reset, then go for a ride |
6 | Battery is too cold during discharge | Bring the Gocycle/battery inside to warm up, reset, then go for a ride |
7 | Battery is too hot during charge | Allow to cool, reset, then try to charge again |
8 | Battery is too cold during charge | Bring the Gocycle/battery inside to warm up, reset, then try to charge again |
9 | Chip overtemperature | Allow to cool, then try to charge/ride again |
